Policy Dialogue on “Initiating an Early Warning System (EWS)

The Pakistan Institute of Education (PIE) and the Data and Research in Education - Research Consortium (DARE-RC) jointly organized a Policy Dialogue on “Initiating an Early Warning System (EWS) to Identify Students at Risk of Dropout” at the PIE Auditorium. The event was graced by Mr. Hassan Saqlain, Additional Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, as the Chief Guest.

Policymakers, education experts, and stakeholders convened to discuss strategies to tackle Pakistan’s critical issue of school dropouts, with over 26.2 million children aged 5-16 years currently out of school. The dialogue highlighted the urgent need for innovative, data-driven solutions to enhance student retention and ensure equitable access to quality education.

Central to the discussions was the Early Warning System (EWS), a globally recognized framework that leverages key indicators such as attendance, academic performance, and socio-economic conditions to identify students at risk of dropping out. By enabling timely and targeted interventions, the EWS framework offers a proactive approach to preventing dropouts and fostering inclusive and sustainable education for all children.
