Policy, Planning & Implementation – A Need of the Hour The Pakistan Institute of Education (PIE), Ministry of Federal Education & Professional Training, hosted a dynamic Policy Dialogue in collaboration with the What Works Hub for Global Education (WWH) and the British Council — bringing together policymakers, educationists, and researchers to discuss the Federal Education Policy and key challenges. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan, Chairman HEC Punjab, stressed that while policies exist, implementation remains a challenge. He urged alignment of degree programs with employable skills, promotion of career guidance, and continuity in education policy. Dr. Shahid Soroya, Director General PIE, emphasized that sustainable education reform begins with evidence, coordination, and commitment. He highlighted PIE’s role in bridging the gap between policy and practice through research-driven insights and provincial collaboration, calling for stronger data systems and policy coherence across provinces. Dr. Zaigham Qadeer, Director Policy Research PIE, shared the journey of evidence-based policy development, showcasing key PIE reports on Education Statistics, Learning Outcomes, and Public Financing that inform the upcoming Federal Education Policy. Mr. Hassan Saqlain, Additional Secretary, MoFEPT, in his closing remarks, appreciated all partners for their commitment and emphasized collaborative action, continuous dialogue, and strong follow-up to turn insights into real impact. Together, panelists including Dr. Salman Hamayoun, Dr. Ehtasham, Mr. Jamal Malik, Ms. Baela Raza, Mr. Sami Khan, Qazi Fareed reaffirmed that policy, planning, and implementation must go hand-in-hand to achieve the vision of a stronger, equitable, and evidence-driven education system for Pakistan.
